Biography:
Local to the New Braunfels music scene, Stephanie Briggs and The Oso are
two of the most talented artistic visionaries you will ever have the
pleasure of experiencing. With Stephanie handling the lyrical
penmanship, lead vocals, guitar, and keys, and The Oso (her husband
Matt) on drums, bass guitar, and back-up vocals, what has emerged is
intelligent, thought provoking music that speaks to the deepest parts of
your soul. With a new studio album, Birds Barely Know Us, to be released
in the Spring of 2009, expect this shooting star to light up the skies
of the music world.
Claiming influences from Chicago, The Beatles, Beck, Sarah Harmer, and
Fiona Apple, Stephanieís music is both did-she-just-say-that off-beat
and unapologetically true. Her current project ìSeedî is a
one-song-a-week endeavor in which she writes and records a song every
week for the year of 2008, which she offers for free to the public. She
heads up a podcast, with her drummer, that keeps a close eye on the
emerging DIY indie music scene, as well as updates her tours and
experiences.
Stephanieís music has been compared to Feist, Regina Spektor, Alanis
Morrisette,
Bob Schneider,Khaki King, Paul Simon, and Joni Mitchell. She has graced
such venues as Gruene Hall in New Braunfels, TX; Executive Surf Club in
Corpus Christi, TX; Egoís in Austin, TX; John T. Floore Country Store in
Helotes, TX; The Wormy Dog Saloon in Oklahoma City, OK. She has
performed with artists Cross Canadian Ragweed, Stoney Larue, Bob
Schneider, Wade Bowen, Randy Rogers, Kacy Crowley, The Band of Heathens,
and many more.
