For Tommy Gallagher, music runs thick in his blood and is carried back
though generations. He first arrived on the Texas country music scene in
2004, opening for well-known touring acts and headlining at local bars.
Four years later the Tommy Gallagher Band is awaiting the release of
their new studio album, Always Something, scheduled for release in March
2009.
The Tommy Gallagher band was originally formed in April 2004 when Tommy
Gallagher and ex-band-mate Steven Lewis split off from a band they were
playing in and decided to form their own band with a Texas country
sound. After finding the right connections, they formed a band that blew
their own expectations out of the water. Tommy Gallagher, lead vocals
and rhythm acoustic guitar, comes to the music business with big boots
to fill. Named after his grandfather, Honky Tonk legend Tommy Allen,
Gallagher remembers riding in his grandfatherís tour bus as a boy. Allen
was a published singer/songwriter in Nashville for Cedarwood Publishing
Company and toured many of the legendary honky tonks in Texas, playing
with country music greats like Lefty Frizzell and Bob Wills. Allen was
the reason Gallagher started playing music in the first place, and he
remains one of his greatest inspirations today. The rest of TGB
includes: Ryan Duncan, drums and backup vocals; Ken Chrostowski, bass
guitar; Kit Koop, lead & rhythm guitar; and Josh Duggan on lead guitar.
Most of the guys in TGB got their start playing in rock and country
music bands, and it can be heard in their music.
Always Something, produced by Mike McClure (Cross Canadian Ragweed/Jason
Boland) and distributed by Smith Entertainment, is a Texas country album
with a rock ní roll twist. McClure will be one of several musicians
featured on the new album. The first single, ìAlways Something," is sure
to keep you moving and listening for more. With influences from Texas
Country pioneers like Cross Canadian Ragweed and Pat Green, the Tommy
Gallagher Band has a smokiní Texas music sound all their own.
